ABOUT US
Welcome to Grappling Disciples Jiu Jitsu, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy built on excellence, community, and faith. We believe Jiu Jitsu is more than a sport—it is a tool for discipleship, character formation, and purposeful living. Our mission is to create an environment where people of all backgrounds can grow, grounded in values modeled by Christ: humility, discipline, service, and love for others. Through the practice of Jiu Jitsu, we pursue growth not only in physical skill and conditioning, but in mental resilience, emotional health, and spiritual maturity. We challenge one another to become better teammates, leaders, and disciples—on and off the mats. Whether you are stepping onto the mats for the first time or continuing your journey, you will find encouragement, accountability, and a community that walks together. We train with intention. We serve with humility. We strive to honor God in all we do. Join the tribe. Start your journey. Discover who you are.

Meet the Instructor
Greg Castro’s martial arts journey began at the age of seven in Sacramento, California, where he first trained in Karate. His path later led him to the U.S. Marine Corps in 2007, where he developed a deep foundation in discipline and combat readiness. By 2009, Greg became a certified Black Belt Instructor in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, with a focus on close-quarters combat. Introduced to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2010, Greg returned to training after his combat tours in Afghanistan in 2016 under Master Pedro Sauer’s Association, earning his blue and purple belts. He currently trains under 4th-degree black belt Professor Roy Dean and received his brown belt in 2026. His coaching is further enriched by experience in Filipino Martial Arts and Kajukenbo, offering students a well-rounded and practical approach to self-defense.
